Join us, Val Turner, LETA 911 Chief of Staff Office of Emergency Management, Larimer County and Robert Carmosino, Battalion Chief and Loveland Emergency Manager for a presentation on “What Should an Employer Do When a Natural Disaster Emergency Occurs?”
This presentation will describe the role of communications and emergency response for Larimer County Emergency Management, followed by questions to the panel. This presentation will guide you through two emergency event scenarios and equip the audience with action items for both employers and employees to ensure their safety. Learn about the emergency alerting process in Larimer County and the numerous ways you can receive emergency alerts. The following learning outcomes are anticipated:
- Understand the emergency alert system and how to sign up for alerts.
- Prepare for emergency events in your area.
- Take action during emergency events to keep yourself and others safe.

Presenters’ Bio:

Val Turner is Chief of Staff at Larimer Emergency Telephone Authority (LETA). She began her career in public safety 22 years ago at Colorado State University Police Department (CSUPD). Val worked in different roles while at CSUPD; including Campus Service Officer, 911 dispatcher, Emergency Medical Dispatcher, and Communications Training Officer. She joined the LETA team in September 2012 and almost immediately learned the importance of LETA’s role during various natural disasters; from the 2013 flood to the largest wildfire in Colorado state history, the Cameron Peak Fire. She trains new dispatchers as part of the Emergency Telecommunicator Course; as well as ProQA software and Larimer County’s emergency alert system, Everbridge. Val and the entire LETA staff work closely with all 31 government partners year-round, but especially during emergency events, where their team can be found working alongside those partners at the Regional Emergency Operations Center (EOC)

Robert Carmosino is a Battalion Chief with Loveland Fire Rescue Authority and the City of Loveland’s Emergency Manager. He has been in the fire service for 33 years with 27 of those years at LFRA. He has experience in different areas within the fire service ranging from Community Safety Division (fire prevention), coordinator for Hazmat Team, Water Rescue Team, Wildland Team, and Information Technology. He spent 12 years operationally on the Special Operations team and now is part of the command staff. He was an Aircraft Rescue Firefighter (ARFF) and managed the program. He has been involved in various natural disasters from floods, wildland fires, and tornados in addition to normal daily incidents. He was an instructor for Aims Community College Fire Science program for 14 years. He continues to instruct courses for the State of Colorado and a multitude of safety presentations to various groups. He is currently the Emergency Manager for the City of Loveland and operates within the Regional Emergency Operations Center (EOC) with the Larimer County Office of Emergency Management, City of Windsor and Larimer Emergency Telephone Authority.
