Topic: Roundtable Discussion – Emergency Preparedness and Response

As safety professionals, we are often tasked with developing emergency action plans and conducting after action reviews for catastrophic events. Sometimes the attention to planning and preparedness within our organizations is based on past experience, which can create a very well or very underprepared workforce when unexpected events occur. During this discussion we will highlight a case study from the events that occurred at a commercial facility impacted by the urban fire in Louisville and Superior, CO. Flood and Peterson’s Heidi Sauer will also join us to discuss on how to be prepared from an insurance perspective and what to expect after a disaster, including the following:

  • Insurance Coverage and the importance of an annual review with your agent/broker
  • Special Limits
  • Documentation
  • What to do after a loss
  • Claims Submission and Process

The goal of this discussion is to increase our depth of knowledge around personal and organizational risks. Please join us and bring questions, as there will be plenty of time for open discussion around this topic!

Speaker Bio:

Heidi is a Colorado Native with a BA in Journalism/Public Relations from the University of Northern Colorado.   She has over 16 years experience in the insurance industry with the majority of that being in claims.  Prior to joining Flood and Peterson as their Claims Consultant Heidi was a Senior Catastrophe Adjuster for State Farm specialized in property claims and handled a variety of disasters from wind and hail in the Midwest, ice storms in the North East and the San Bernadino Fire in CA.  She is currently pursuing her ARM designation and in her free time you can find her out hiking nearby trails on playing softball.
